About The Face Foundation
The Face Foundation was founded in 1995 by Houston Facial Plastic Surgeon, Russell W.H. Kridel, MD, FACS to help victims of domestic abuse. Injuries can be severe and are a daily reminder of living in violent situation. The Face Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of men, women or children who are wearing physical scars of abuse. Victims of domestic abuse are provided with free reconstructive plastic surgery of the head, face and neck. The Face Foundation provides needed surgery to previous victims of abuse who are sponsored by these organizations: The National Coalition for Domestic Violence, The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Face to Face Program.
The Face Foundation strives to obtain hospitals, nurses and anesthesiologists to donate their time, expertise, rooms and care needed for surgery. Yet, donations are always welcome to fund the costs of recovery, prescription drugs and printed educational material concerning reconstructive surgery and domestic violence that are not always cost-free.
Potential surgical patients who want to move forward with their lives must be out of the abusive situation and must have obtained counseling from a domestic violence program. As well, potential surgical recipients must be screened through the National Domestic Violence Program 800.799.7233.

The Face Foundation also sponsors visits to and from other facial plastic surgeons and educational meetings in the United States and around the world.

About Founder & President, Russell W.H. Kridel, MD, FACS
Russell W. H. Kridel, MD, FACS is a respected facial plastic surgeon in Houston, Texas who has been in private practice in Houston, Texas since 1981. He specializes in cosmetic surgery of the face and neck, with an emphasis on cosmetic and reconstructive rhinoplasty and aging face surgery. Dr. Kridel is a noted expert in primary and revision rhinoplasty and nasal reconstruction following accidents or unsuccessful surgeries performed elsewhere. Techniques in nasal surgery he has developed are taught routinely to other students and other doctors
Dr. Kridel founded the Face Foundation in 1995 to provide men, women and children who have been victims of domestic violence with free facial and plastic reconstructive surgery. He is the current delegate representing all plastic surgeons in the United States at the American Medical Association. He won the election to the prestigious AMA Council on Science and Public Health. In Houston, he is Vice President of Harris County Medical Society. At the University of Texas Health Science Center and Medical School, he contributes his time to medical students by lecturing as a non-salaried clinical professor. He has served as national President at The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
In addition to lecturing residents and medical students, Dr. Kridel has been invited to speak to medical professionals all over the world about rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgery. He has lectured in many countries: Columbia, Mexico, Spain, Canada, Jordan, Egypt, Italy and Holland. Outside of the U.S. he has performed surgery in Italy and Holland. In his private practice, patients have flown in from as far as Dubai and Bombay for a consult with Dr. Kridel. His written work has appeared in over 60 peer-reviewed medical journals and textbooks.
